At the Battle of Svindax in the spring of 1022, the Byzantine emperor Basil II won a decisive victory over the Georgian army of King George I.

The battle fought at the place Svindax (a medieval Georgian chronicler knew it as სჳნდაქს-ი, Suindax’i) in the Phasiane province (Basiani, Basian, or Basean) forced George of Georgia to negotiate a peace treaty ending the Byzantine-Georgian war, 1014-1022 over the succession of the Georgian courapalates in Asia Minor.
