Battle of Maidstone

The Battle of Maidstone was a battle in the Second English Civil War (1648). In June, a Royalist uprising broke out in Kent. The Cavaliers captured Gravesend and Maidstone. Sir Thomas Fairfax marched on Maidstone and recaptured the city. The Royalist forces attacked the parliamentary troops at Maidstone on June 24. The battle resulted in a parliamentary victory with over 800 Royalists dead. The battle ended the uprising.
