The Battle of Lier was fought on August 2, 1814 between Sweden and the newly independent Norway as part of the Norwegian-Swedish War of 1814. It was the first major action of the war. The battle was a rout of Swedish soldiers and a mere sloughter. Norwegian Jegere surrounded the swedish forces retrating from Kongsvinger. In the battle that was fought, hundreds of swedish soldiers were killed. The battle resulted in a Norwegian victory, and forced Colonel Gahn to retreat. The battle was followed by the Battle of Midtskogen.
