Battle of Aizkraukle

The Battle of Aizkraukle (Ascheraden, Aizkriaukle) was fought on March 5, 1279 by Traidenis against the army of the Teutonic Order, which was defeated. In the battle the Master of the Livonian Brothers of the Sword, Ernst von Rassburg was killed as well as Eilart Hoberg, the leader of the Danish knights from North Estonia. After this battle duke Nameisis of the Semigallians recognized Traidenis as his suzerain.
