Batten Kill Railroad

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Batten Kill Railroad (BKRR) was formed in 1981 to operate a pair of abandoned Delaware and Hudson Railway branch lines.

The Greenwich and Johnsonville Railway was incorporated in the early part of the 20th century, and became a subsidiary of the Delaware and Hudson Railway. It connected to the Delaware and Hudson's Washington Branch at Greenwich Junction. When a Georgia-Pacific paper mill in Thomson, NY closed, the D&H planned to abandon the G&J as well as the adjoining Washington Branch which ran from Eagle Bridge, New York to Castleton, Vermont.
