Bathos is the first full-length album by the Finnish avant-garde metal band Aarni. It was released on November 17, 2004, through Firedoom Music, the sub-label of Firebox Records.[1]It was recorded, mixed, and produced by Aarni. This album contains tracks with very distinct styles, including funeral doom metal, folk metal, and avant-garde metal.

Vilpir (Ville Vierimaa) from Umbra Nihil played session drums on the album. Oneiroscopy means interpretation of dreams. V.I.T.R.I.O.L. is an acronym for "Visita interiora terrae rectificandoque invenies occultum lapidem" in Latin, meaning "Visit the innermost of the earth and by rectifying what is there, you will find the hidden stone."[2]
