Bath Film Festival was established in 1991. Director, David Puttnam, is the Honorary President of the Festival. Ken Loach and Peter Gabriel became Patrons of the Festival in 1993.

Since 1992, with funding from the local authority and other arts bodies, the Festival has expanded its provision to include participatory workshops, outdoor screenings and other special events that have become an important part of the Festival’s annual programme.
