Batabano or Cayman Carnival Batabano (as it is officially called) is the name of the Caribbean Carnival held in the Cayman Islands. It is an annual event usually held after Ash Wednesday. Batabano was launched by the Rotary Club in 1984 and is undoubtedly one of the main highlights of Cayman's entertainment calendar.

The word Batabano is linked to the Islands' history in turtling and is the word given to the tracks left by turtles when they drag themselves onto the beach to nest in the sand.
