[edit] Site name
Why is it called bash? --Galaxiaad 22:30, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
- Although posting this into the article would be a violation of WP:OR, and discussing it on the talk page is probably outside of the talk page guidelines, I can tell you it's simply because it was an "elite", short domain we owned at the time the project was transferred. It was considered an excellent choice, as it is both a noun and can be used as a verb, as well as geek-friendly due to the popularity of the Bourne-Again Shell of the same name. As an insignificant side note, my partner Ninety prefers /usr/bin/bash, whereas I am a solid /usr/bin/tcsh kinda guy. ;-) /Blaxthos 22:51, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe this should be in the article (stupid no original research policy). I came here specifically because I was wondering if the name for bash.org was derived from the Bourne-Again Shell. In any case, I'm glad this was here on the discussion page. Or maybe you guys could put an "about Bash.org" page on bash.org . 128.117.194.163 19:42, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Server
Do they also have their own server?
[edit] german-bash.org
why is the link to german-bash.org deleted? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 88.72.240.146 (talk) 20:09, 13 January 2007 (UTC).
- It is a spam link and has nothing to do (nor official affiliation) with bash.org. /Blaxthos
- And qdb.us? Why doesn't this article reference it at all? Also, it boggles the mind how the creator of the site isn't mentioned at all anymore, but this Blaxthos character is... Hmm... --Ifrit 13:36, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
