Talk:Basant

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

[edit] Basant is not a religious festival

Why is Basant described as a Hindu festival? There is nothing religious about it, it is simply a celebration of the arrival of spring, and Muslims, Sikhs and Hindus all celebrate it.

I don't think that the question is weather the BASANT belongs to INDIA or PKAISTAN. This is festival of the PUNJAB & is celebrated after the end of the winter by the farmers, when the plan to cut their crops.

[edit] Basant Origin

I wasn't trying to say that the festival is religious, just that its origins are. The first three external links all say that the festival has a Hindu origin. But I am no expert so if I am wrong please enlighten me.BenFFoster 20:52, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
