Basting

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Basting involves cooking meat with either its own juices or some type of preparation such as a sauce or marinade. Prominently used in grilling, rotisserie, roasting and other meat preparations where the meat is over heat for extended periods of time. Basting flavors the meat and keeps it moist.

Basting is also a sewing term that means to temporarily stitch two pieces of fabric so sizing can be adjusted before the final, tighter stitch is put in. See basting stitch.

Also newer trends in drug abuse have users tending to use the term Basting, to indicate the process of inserting specially prepared narcotics into the anus. This is desirable due to the quick absortion of the substance into the body and since no physical marks are readily visible to others, as is the case with using needles.
