BaseN is a Finnish company providing large-scale infrastructure measurement and data management services. Founded in 2001 by its current CEO Pasi Hurri and other leading Finnish internet pioneers, it grew rapidly both in the domestic and international market. Among the board members is the well known internet pioneer Johan Helsingius. Presently BaseN has its headquarters in Espoo, Finland, and offices in Atlanta, GA, and Amsterdam.

BaseN provides linearly scalable solutions for massive data gathering, analysis and presentation. The BaseN Platform is deployed mainly for large network measurement and management applications, but is now increasingly being used for monitoring other types of applicances, such as electricity meters, vehicles, drink vending machines, weather stations, gasoline dispensers and industrial pumps.

[edit] BaseN Platform

The BaseN Platform is recognized as one of the world's first commercially successful services that is based on distributed grid computing technologies. Typical implementations of the BaseN Platform retain their operational capabilities even when 50% of the distributed hardware is malfunctioning or unreachable in the networked grid. Member nodes of the BaseN Platform grid continuously negotiate their tasks with each other in order to optimize the whole system.

[edit] Awards

In 2005, BaseN received the Deloitte "Rising Star" award for being the fastest growing Finnish technology company within three years.
