Basaveshwaranagar, a locality of Bangalore, is an old extension that has turned into a bustling hub with more than 200,000 people living and working here. It is named after poet-king Basaveshwara.

Basaveshwaranagar subsumes several sub-localities like Kamalanagar, Housing Board Colony, Kamakshipalya, Kurubarahalli, etc.

There are several landmarks such as Pavithra Paradise, 8th Main, Water Tank Road and Shankar Mutt all of which are off Basaveshwaranagar Main Road in one stretch of about 2 kilometres.

Though essentially a residential area, there are several commercial establishments which makes Basaveshwaranagar a self-contained township. It is well served by buses and is about 5 km from the Kempegowda Bus Station and Bangalore City Railway Station. The famous Dr. M. C. Modi Charitable Eye Hospital is located here apart from hospitals like Panecea, Pristine, and the Chord Road Hospital. Pizza Hut is located near Shankar Mutt circle. Gramya is a new store located on Basaveshwaranagar Main Road near the Magadi road, making available eco-friendly ethnic lifestyle products and foods from rural SHGs and artisans. Shaadi Point, a matrimonial center has an outlet near the ICICI ATM. Basaveshwaranagar also has 'CENTRA', a unit of the family mart situated near Pavithra Paradise just opposite to Highway Chicken Palace.
