I noticed you have listed yourself in Category:Atheist Wikipedians. That said, you will probably be interested in my suggested featured article for December 25th: Omnipotence paradox. Hi Bartimaeus, I just saw your addition to toluene. I am concerned that this skews the article very heavily towards one minor technical aspect related to toluene. Speaking as an organic chemistry professor, I could add fifty pages of content with hundreds of references to reactions, properties, etc. of toluene. However I realise that this sort of thing is much too specialised for a general article that aims to give an overview of toluene. Could I ask you to consider reducing your section to a couple of sentences and merging it into the "Precautions and metabolism" section, then reducing the no. of references to one or two? Alternatively, if you think this is an important topic, could you start a new page dealing with toluene detection, or maybe better would be an article on human exposure to toluene and its metabolism/detection? - Hey, that new page is looking great, it's almost a full length article already! I assume you will be cleaning up refs, adding pics, etc, yourself, let me know if you want me to help with that. With so many refs, you might want to look at the Ref/Note format as used on acetic acid, I have just started using this style myself. To your page I added a few wikilinks, I also added two prominent links to your page from toluene. One thing, I notice the article is called Toluene (Toxicology), but to be in standard format I think this is supposed to be Toluene (toxicology), which I created as a redirect for the time being. You can do a "move" to the other name. For an example see Complex (chemistry). If you do things differently in toxicology articles, fair enough!
- By the way, on the toluene page I posted a mention of some personal knowledege, regarding the effect of toluene causing loss of teeth (I used to know some glue sniffers years ago). I removed this because I couldn't locate any literature to back it up, but before that I had an enquiry about my posting. Are you familiar with this aspect? Have there been dental studies on the effects of toluene inhalation? Also, at WP:Chem we chemists get toxicology questions from time to time, could we ask you for help? Your input might also be very helpful when we are putting together a featured article candidate, as acetic acid was recently. In return we can do ChemDraw structure drawings for you if that's needed. You marked this article for speedy deletion with the reason "advertisement". This does not fall under the criteria for speedy deletion, so please do not use it as a reason for speedy deletion. I have made an AFD nomination for it, which is the appropriate action for advertisements and articles for seemingly non-notable entities. jnothman talk 10:13, 1 January 2006 (UTC)
- Firstly, I'm a new admin and am learning the ropes, so please excuse me if I get things wrong. If the basis for speedy deletion is that it's been deleted before and restored verbatim, then the criterion is WP:CSD G4. But I can't actually see any deletion history of this article; indeed last time you put a speedy-delete request on it, this was simply removed. The article has also been edited a fair bit in its current incarnation, so I don't know on what basis you say "when i have marked it so before admins has deleted it straight away". The important thing to note is that "advertisement" is in no way a criterion for speedy deletion. jnothman talk 12:42, 1 January 2006 (UTC)
