[edit] Coca-Cola
Barq's is now owned by coca-cola correct? Could someone expand on that, like how they were purchased?
[edit] Move
As this article is about the Barq's company and products in general, not just the root beer, I was thinking it might be appropriate to move it from the current title of "Barq's root beer" to "Barq's". Thoughts, objections? -- Infrogmation 02:46, 18 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- I agree, sounds good. --Chairboy 03:18, 18 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- As there have been no objections, I will do so. -- Infrogmation 16:20, 27 Aug 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Barg's has bite?
Is it for sure that 'Barq's has bite' refers to caffeine? I always assumed it was the rich dark sharp flavor, similar to Coke, that other lighter milder root beers lack.
- I agree, recent radio commercials discuss the tingling mouth sensation one gets when one drinks it, and notes that this means Barq's has the proverbial bite. I'll go ahead and change it. --Sycomonkey 21:16, 17 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Barq's is best
Who here agrees that Barq's is the best root beer ever? multima 22:00, Apr 2, 2005 (UTC)
- But of course --Sycomonkey 21:16, 17 October 2005 (UTC)
- I agree--63.113.199.109 11:04, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
Actually I think I'm beginning to understand, thanks to this article, why people who 'like root beer' don't like Barq's, and why I don't like anything BUT Barq's.. Barq's is apparently not really 'root beer' but sarsparilla. Yum! You can really taste the silent R.
- Actually, sapsarilla has been used in the making root beer. It's not like Barq's is the only one that has used it. Mr. C.C. 18:10, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, their slogan itself says why I don't like Barq's. "Barq's has Bite". But Root beer isn't supposed to have bite, it's supposed to be smooth and creamy. 66.151.205.13 20:15, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Canadian Barq's sweeter?
For any Canadian or anyone in general who has drink Barq's in Canada, do you think that the Barq's in Canada is sweet? I mean I have tried the American Barq's years ago because a friend of my family's son is a trucker and go to the States a lot and he brought back some Barq's from the States. I must say it was really good and not to sweet.
So does anyone agree with me that Barq's in Canada is sweeter then Barq's from the States? I am thinking that it might be a neutral point of view. So that's why I am asking and that's why I didn't add it to the article. Mr. C.C. 06:19, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Barq's in Brawley, CA
The Pepsi-Cola bottler of Brawley CA bottled a number of drinks under the Barq's name during the 50's, 60's and 70's when I left the area.
Barq's Root Beer was one of three or four good root beers available but didn't particularly top that category.
Barq's Cream Soda, not the Red Creme version, was notably less sweet and very hgh on vanilla flavor with a smooth, creamy mouth-feel. It also looked exactly like beer and would pour with a head. :) The best cheap Cream Soda available, it really became a favorite.
Barq's Orange was similar to Orangina which I had tasted in Arkansas. It had little orange-colored dregs in it that were supposed to be grated orange peel. Also not as sweet as other orange sodas and with lots of flavor, better than Crush.
Barq's other flavors were good (Lime, Lemon, Grape, Cherry?) but Red Creme soda was just weird. It tasted like raspberry bubble gum with a mint aftertaste.
