Bartow and Plant City Railway

The Bartow and Plant City Railway Company was incorporated on March 7, 1892 under the general incorporation laws of Florida
- having for its purpose the construction of a railway from the city of Bartow in the county of Polk, to Plant City in the county of Hillsborough.
The railroad was promised land grants along its line; Florida state law chapter 4254, approved June 3, 1893, extended this right because most of the land near the planned railroad had already been granted. That act also allowed the company
- the construction of an additional line of railroad from any point at or between the said city of Bartow and Plant City, to the town of Fort Meade in the county of Polk, together with any extensions and branches the company may see proper to construct.
