Bartholomew Sulivan

Bartholomew James Sulivan (born 1810, died 1890) was a British sailor and hydrographer.
He was a leading advocate of the value of nautical surveying in relation to naval operations. His early career included service on HMS Beagle during Charles Darwin's voyage of 1836. During the Crimean War he performed service in the campaign in the Baltic. He rose to the rank of Vice Admiral and was also a distinguished member of the Board of Trade.
