Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC) is the organization that encompasses all schools, elementary, middle and secondary in the Columbus, Indiana area. The organization works to uphold and improve the educational standards of the community through the principles of Continuous Improvement, Accountability, and Professional Growth. It oversees such functions as the administration of all school, school-related building projects, curricula, scholarships and school technology. The school corporation is closely linked to the community. Community members can hold any position on its board and parents and other community members are welcome at all meetings.

The corporation is led by President John Anderson, Vice-President Mindy Lewis and Secretary Gretchen Fisher. Along with the other board members, they head the many services that are provided by BCSC. Some of these are ATTEND (Agencies Teaming Together to End Non-attendance Dilemmas), the Columbus Educators Association, ESC (Educational Service Center), and ESL (English as a Second Language).

Elementary schools, Middle schools and High Schools are all linked together through the BCSC. These include Clifty Creek, Fodrea, Lincoln, Parkside, Southside, Mt. Healthy, Richards, Rockcreek, Schmitt, Smith and Taylorsville Elemtary Schools, Central and Northside Middle Schools and Columbus East High School and Columbus North High School.

The BCSC regularly recognizes students and faculty who make extraordinary achievements. Faculty-of-the-month and faculty-of-the-year awards are granted. The corporation also holds awards ceremonies at both high schools at the end of the academic year, recognizing student achievement in specific subject areas as well as honoring the top-10 students of the graduating class.
