Barry Sims (born December 1, 1974) is currently playing offensive tackle for the Oakland Raiders in the National Football League.

[edit] College Years
Sims played two years at the University of Utah after transferring from Dixie Junior College. As a senior, he was named the Most Improved Player and finishing with All WAC honors. Despite these honors, Sims was selected in the 17th round of the NFLEL draft by the Scottish Claymores.

Sims played for the Claymores in the spring of 1999. He was signed as a free agent during the 1999 training camp of the Oakland Raiders, making his first NFL start in week 5 against the Buffalo Bills. Sims has played in 110 league games with 96 starts, seven playoff starts, two Conference Championships and one Super Bowl. He currently owns the Raider record for consecutive starts with 55.

Sims' first major injury occurred in a practice for the 1997 Hula Bowl. As Sims took his three point stance, his foot got caught up in the turf and he blew out his knee. Sims believes that this injury is what kept him from being an NFL pick.
Sims has been injured nearly every season he has played in he NFL.

Sims is known for his ability to play all of the positions on the offensive line.

Off the field, Barry and his wife Shae live in the San Francisco Bay Area with their animals and are very active in a variety of charitable activities, including Foster a Dream, which supports Northern California foster youth and Special Olympics of Northern California.
Sims has a distinctive "Bear-Paw" tattoo that is clearly visible on his right arm.
