Barry John Maister (born June 6, 1948 in Christchurch) is a former field hockey player from New Zealand, who was a member of the national team that won the golden medal at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal.
A contemporary of team-mgh School until 1994, when he took up an appointment as Rector of St Andrews until the end of 2000. He and Jeff Archibald were involved in the New Zealand Junior Academy and Barry and his brother Selwyn then looked after the national junior team.
Maister succeeded Michael Hooper as secretary general of the New Zealand Olympic Committee in 2001.
