Barry Island Pleasure Park

Barry Island Pleasure Park is an amusement park situated on Barry Island in the Vale of Glamorgan, about 10 miles south of the capital city Cardiff, South Wales, UK.

The Pleasure park is surrounded by many shops, bars and restaurants. The Pleasure Park was once famous for its Scenic Railway which dominated half of the site in the early 1900s this was damaged by strong winds in 1973 some of the materials were used to create the Log flume^[1], which still remains today as one of the parks most popular attractions.

The pleasure park has over 50 rides and attractions, including a Log flume, Viper Rollercoaster, Sea Ray Pirate Ship, Galloping Horses and many others. Entrance to the park is free, and ride tickets are available from ticket booths at the park.

Amusement arcades are located within the pleasure park, and also on the surrounding sea front area, providing games of skill, chance and all sorts of video games.

Barry Island Pleasure Park is owned by Ian Rogers the man behind Hypervalue. Many locals know the Rogers family, Ken Rogers (deceased) purchased the pleasure park and set up Hypervalue.

The Rhythm Dancer was removed in the 2006 season.

Update* (5/02/07) - The Haunted Mine, Tappeto Volante, and Sea Ray Pirate Ship are believed to be removed for the main 2007 season, to make way for new attractions.

Update* (15/02/07) - The park have officialy announced that the park rides will be of a private showmen as from 2007. Most existing rides and attractions will be removed. See Unofficial Barry Island for more information (link below).
