Barrington Broadcasting

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Barrington Broadcasting Company, LLC (best known as Barrington Broadcasting), headquartered in Hoffman Estates, Illinois is an entity wholly focused on broadcast television. The company's assets mainly consist of television stations in middle and small sized markets. The company began operations in January 2004 with its purchases of WHOI-TV in Peoria, Illinois, KHQA in Hannibal, Missouri, and WEYI-TV in Flint, Michigan.

Several links exist between Barrington Broadcasting and the now-defunct Benedek Broadcasting. Barrington Broadcasting CEO K. James Yager had been President of Benedek Broadcasting and Barrington's headquarters had served the same purpose for Benedek. Also, WHOI and KHQA, the purchase which started the company, were both former Benedek stations.
