Barrett family of Jamaica

The Barrett family played an important role in the history of Jamaica. Hercie Barrett with his family arrived on the island of Jamaica in 1655 and soon family members acquired great wealth and various mineral and agricultural rights on the island and became some of the dominant plantation owners of the island.
