Barren Hill, Pennsylvania

Barren Hill is a small unincorporated community in Whitemarsh Township, Montgomery County in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It was first settled in the 1700s.
The borders with nearby Lafayette Hill are unclear. Some people say the Battle of Barren Hill was in Barren Hill, while others say it was in Lafayette Hill.

The origin of its name is unsure. While probably a corruption of Barn Hill, it might referto the the sheer barren areas in the community.
