Barony of Morgallion
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Morgallion is one of the Medieval baronies (see Baronies of Ireland) that make up the county of Meath. In 1172 King Henry II granted the Kingdom of Meath to Hugh de Lacy to hold as King Murrough O Melaghlin held it. De Lacy granted the territory of the Gaileanga-Mor sept to Gilbert de Angulo. The caput of the barony was at Nobber where de Lacy constructed a Motte close to the site of an earlier ecclesiastical site.
