Baron Desborough

Baron Desborough, of Taplow in the County of Buckingham, was a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1905 for the sportsman and politician William Grenfell of Taplow Court in Buckinghamshire. He had three sons and two daughters. The eldest son, Hon. Julian Grenfell, and the second son, Hon. William Grenfell, were both killed in action in 1915 during the First World War. The third son, Hon. Ivo George Winifred Grenfell, died as the result of a motoring accident in 1926. None of the sons had children and consequently the title became extinct on Lord Desborough's death in 1945.
Lord Desborough was the first cousin of the banker Edward Grenfell, 1st Baron St Just.
