Baron Clifton

The title Baron Clifton, of Leighton Bromswold, co. Huntingdon, was created in the Peerage of England for Sir Gervase Clifton in 1608. The title passed through a few families of peers. The 10th Baroness's husband, Sir John Bligh, was created Baron Clifton, of Rathmore, co. Meath in the Peerage of Ireland in 1721 and later Earl of Darnley in 1725, with which title both baronies continue to be merged with.
