Barguna Sadar is located at 22.1508° N 90.1264° E . It has 41868 units of house hold and total area 454.39 km².

As of 1991 Bangladesh census^GRBangladeh, Barguna Sadar has a population of 219729. Males constitute are 50.7% of the population, and females 49.3%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 111209.
