Bargain bin

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bargain bin refer to an unsorted selection of merchandise, particularly softwares, tools and CDs, which have been discounted in price due to the closure of the production company, just a poorly made product, or the lost popularity after a "one-hit single" that did not compare in commercial success with other productions. However, the most common version is usually the derivation of the product (cover songs or a clone of a famous software), and is usually poorly made.

The origin of the term comes from the fact such items would be found in an isolated bin rather than on store shelves. It is also sometimes referred to as "bargain basement".

[edit] Bargain bin as an adjective

In more recent years, the term is also associated with a person being "cheesy", "cheap" or "lame"
