Barbara Stone, Australian politician, is the State Member for Springwood, Queensland, and a member of the Australian Labour Party in that state.

Her victories in the 2001, 2004 and 2006 state elections confirm her as one of the most successful politicians in Queensland, and is the longest serving Member in the Springwood electorates history.
In the 2004 election, voters awarded Barbara with 11,415 votes, giving her 54.7% of the total votes. This
The 2006 election saw Barbara win 49.1% of the total votes, almost 10% more of the vote than her closest opponent.

She has graduated with an Associate Diploma in Business Management and a Bachelor of Business (HRM) at Queensland University of Technology.
Barbara worked at Australia Post for a number of years in many varying capacities. She would later leave Australia post to take a position as an Electorate Officer for Judy Spence, State Member for Mt Gravatt and pursue her interest in politics.

In her third term in office, Barbara Stone is currently the Chair of the Parliamentary Committee, Public Works. She is also a member of numerous Ministerial Legislative Committees including Police and Corrective Services, Transport and Main Roads, Emergency Services and Sports.

Springwood has received impressive levels of infrastructure funding since Barbara’s election. She championed the upgrading of the Pacific Motorway, obtaining a $392 million for upgrading for the road. Since 2001 Ms Stone has also delivered a new $23 million Springwood Bus Interchange, an additional 1,710 bus services per week and has recently secured funding for and overseen the completion of the upgrade of the Logan Hyperdome Bus Station.

Barbara has a keen focus on schools in the local area. Since her election she procured $4,981,044 in funding for the schools in her electorate. Barbara has a close working relationship with all the schools in her area and takes an active role in school groups, school functions and award ceremonies.
