Barbara Staropoli, SSJ is a Sister of Saint Joseph of Rochester, New York, an author and a well-respected singer and teacher of voice.

After earning undergraduate degrees at Nazareth College, Rochester, she continued her studies at the Eastman School of Music, eventually receiving a Doctorate of Music Arts (D.M.A.) in Voice after studying with world-renowned soprano Jan DeGaetani.

In late 2000, Staropoli published a collection of Canzonettas by Italian composer Julia Caccini, published by Hildegard Press in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, a publisher specializing in the study of female composers and musicians.

Staropoli is currently the congregational vice-president of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Rochester, a member of the Board of Trustees of Nazareth College. She plays host to the annual Barbara Staropoli Singing Compotition held in Rochester and is a member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
