American artist and illustrator; perhaps best known for her cover-art for Ballantine Books first paperback edition of J. R. R. Tolkien's novel The Lord of the Rings. The popularity of the artwork led to a large edition of the poster, as well as work for similar genre fiction, such as The Worm Ouroboros by Eric Rucker Eddison. She often signed her work "BRem" rather than using her full name.

She has also illustrated a number of children's books. Her illustrations in the charming Scuttle, the Stowaway Mouse have captivated both children and adult readers for years.

Born in Minnesota, she now resides in northeastern Pennsylvania.
