Barbara Pennington
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Barbara Pennington is a Hi-NRG and Soul music artist born, in Chicago, Illinios, United States, who nearly did not get her chance at a music career until legendary Hi-NRG and Soul record producer Ian Levine came to the United States scouting for new talent for his record label.
Pennington has some vocal similarity to singer, Chaka Khan also from Chicago, in terms of their vocal exburance. After a slow start, she eventually scored music hits in the UK, the first of them being, "Running In Another Direction." By the early 1980's, she had scored several disco hits, then several more Hi-NRG hits across mainland Europe. Her Stateside success was more variable, but not a failure. Some of her U.S. disco hits are "Twenty Four Hours A Day" which peaked at #4 on the Club Play Chart, and "You Are The Music In Me" which peaked at #20 in 1977.
Her single, "On A Crowded Street", became popular on both sides of the Altantic in the 1985, from the album, Out of The Darkest Night.
