Barışarock

Barışarock (read as Barışarak in Turkish, meaning making peace) is an annual rock festival organized in Istanbul, Turkey.

The festival started in 2003 as a reaction and counter-festival to Rock'n Coke, another large-scale rock festival of Istanbul sponsored by Coca Cola, positioning itself as an anti-capitalist alternative. The organizers and the audience of the festival maintain that, the idea of rock music is not compatible with the sponsorship of a global company like Coca Cola and it should not become a tool of advertisement and promotion of consumption.

Entrance to the festival remains free of charge.
