The Baptist Hymnal is the primary book of hymns and songs used for Christian worship in churches affiliated with the United States denomination, the Southern Baptist Convention.

The title was first used for a Convention publication in 1956, and a second version was released in 1975. The third, and present, version of The Baptist Hymnal was released in 1991.

Plans for a fourth version have been held up because of recent trends in church music; the development of pop music, rock bands, and the modern worship movement forced LifeWay Christian Resources, which publishes the Baptist Hymnal, to abandon plans for a 2005 revision. Plans are currently being worked for a 2008 revision.
