[edit] Accreditation

It was first accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools in 2001 and is currently accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE), Commission on Accreditation.[1][3] Both groups are United States Department of Education and Council for Higher Education Accreditation recognized accrediting agencies.

[edit] History

Baptist Bible College has origins in a May 1950 a group of Baptist ministers assembled in the Texas Hotel in Fort Worth, Texas. In the summer of 1950 land was bought at the intersection of Summit and Kearney roads in Springfield, Missouri in which this former five-acre city park turned into dormitories opened on September 5, 1950. At this time until his death in 1975 George Beauchamp Vick, pastor of the Temple Baptist Church of Detroit, Michigan (currently NorthRidge Church) was the president of the college.

The vice president of the college, W. E. Dowell Sr., then became the president until fall 1985. Under Dowell enrollment peaked during his tenure.[citation needed] Then from 1986 until 2002 Leland R Kennedy served as president who saw the college's "capital debt was eliminated."[citation needed] In 2001 it received probationary accreditation from the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.[1] Current president Mike Randall was installed as the fifth president on February 20, 2002.

[edit] Student rules

Baptist Bible College has "strict" rules for their students in which men must wear "Neat slacks, dress shoes, socks, dress shirts and coordinated tie properly worn (no bolos/string ties, headware, athletic shoes, or sandals)" and women must wear "Casual dresses, jumpers, skirts with sweathers and/or blouses" with strict criteria defining how and what type of styles can be worn.[citation needed] All students have a curfew of 11 pm from Sunday to Thursday and on Friday and Saturday it is at midnight.[citation needed]
