User talk:Bang bang you're dead

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fucking great Liam Gallagher pic, mate. It really complaments the article. I dunno what sort of access you have to them, but any chance you could get a pic or two from the early-mid 90s or the late 90s? It's a bit sparse at the moment. Cheers.--Crestville 15:46, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

Unfortunately we can't use it unless you can get Andrew Kendall to release it without a non commercial clause (see Wikipedia_talk:Fair_use#Why_do_we_not_accept_non_commercial_clauses.3F). Arniep 10:47, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
I don't see the problem here. He took the photos, gave his permission to use on this website. Bang Bang you're dead

It's a nasty complex system they have. The new pictures they're using are crap though--Crestville 01:01, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi, the problem is anything on Wikipedia isn't just being used here it is also used on commercial mirrors like Answers.com. If you can get him to license the photo without a non commercial clause we can use it. Arniep 01:03, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
Since when has this been in affect? That's just stupid. Bang Bang you're dead
since this is an issue of who can use it and who can't for distribution, couldn't I just put what he has clearly stated in his website about using the photographs? Bang Bang you're dead
He probably doesn't realise Wikipedia has commercial mirrors. He may well agree to release just that particular photo under a free license if you ask. Arniep 01:16, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
Note he specifically states on his website that he only releases the photos under a non commercial license. Arniep 01:18, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
getting to that, but avoiding it. Making things difficult now. Bang Bang you're dead
Do you want to email him or shall I do it? Arniep 01:22, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
I noticed that, yes. I'm not simple. Anyways, If you have time mate go right ahead, If not then I'll find time later. Bang Bang you're dead
Hi, I just emailed him. Professional photographers like that are less likely to agree to release their images than fans (who aren't likely to make any money out of their pics anyway). Arniep 01:36, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your userpage

I removed Category:User templates as your userpage is not a template and I'm going to guess it was added erroneously. The other thing I did was remove the gallery tags, as fair use images (such as album covers) may not be used on anything other than articles, and even then only in certain conditions. Please read Wikipedia:Fair use. Kotepho 00:13, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

oh Sod off.
I'm sorry that you wish I would leave you alone, but copyright issues are non-negotiable. Kotepho 00:19, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
If you are going to change something, one) Notify me and two) Don't leave it looking like complete shite. Bang Bang you're dead
Better looking now? Also, Image:O- LIAM-RICK2 copy.png and Image:O- LIAM-RICK2 copy.JPG have no source or licensing information. The {{PD-self}} tag on Image:RIDE070292c.jpg is questionable, considering you say it is used with permission and list a source. With permission images fall under the same use conditions as fair use images, and images that would not qualify as fair use will be deleted [1]. Kotepho 01:01, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
Yeah I'll fix it. Now nazi over to someone else. Bang Bang you're dead 20:48, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

I know you mean well, but your crusin' for a brusin'. You should have just asked her to do it herself--Crestville 20:06, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

It's like, fuckin hell at least leave a little message first before you piss all over my page. Bang Bang you're dead 20:50, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Info boxes for magazines

I notice that you have added a number of info boxes for magazines and in almost every case you use a magazine cover to illustrate the box. By current fair use definition, this does not seem to qualify as fair use, but is only decoration. Interested in your interpretation on this. Doc 22:49, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

It does say in the copyright that it is ok to use a Magazine cover if it is used in direct example of the magazine itself, for the page. Which is exactly what I have done. Bang Bang you're Dead
I'll check that one out. It's not that I disagree with what you have done, but I've been getting a lot of controversy over magazine covers of late and wanted your input Thanks, Doc 13:06, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
yes, I understand. I have yet to see any proof on this though. I have no problem with changing things to logos if this issue turns up true. User:Bang bang you're dead

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Qlogo.JPG)

Thanks for uploading Image:Qlogo.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] They had it coming

it was announced that he was in negotiations with the makers of Channel 4 afternoon quiz Countdown to appear as the weekly celebrity guest in "Dictionary Corner". Co-presenter Carol Vorderman, interviewed by The Daily Sport, said, "Liam loves it and yes, we're in talks about him coming on. I told him I think it will do his cred no end of good."

Proof, if ever it was needed, that there is a God. But my oh my does he work in mysterious ways.--Crestville 18:55, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Ha, That was brilliant. Gave a bit of finger clackin' there. Hmmm. -- Bang Bang You're Dead 22:05, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Forgot to mention it's Liam bloody Gallagher, but I see you guessed. I can't wait for that.--Crestville 11:57, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Copyright problems with Image:Noll341.png

An image that you uploaded, Image:Noll341.png, has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it is a suspected copyright violation. Please look there if you know that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), and then provide the necessary information there and on its page, if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. MECUtalk 20:23, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
The author giving it to you doesn't mean they intend to release it under a free license. Another, un-free license would not help as it would be considered replaceable fair use then. Wikipedia wants free images. --MECUtalk 21:01, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
I don't. But the burden of proof is upon you, the uploader, to prove the owner wanted this to keep this image. See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for some help. --MECUtalk 21:33, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
