[edit] Expansion of article
I think we should expand this article more because banbury is quite a large town and its expanding fast, maybe we should mention abuot the expansion of the town such has hanwell fields and colledge fields (bodicote bankside)Thatperson 17:39, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Alcan
Alcan closed it's processing plant, leaving only the R&D labs which are earmarked for closure too. Shuvveh 22:44, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
i think we should leave the info about alcan and add info about its closure rather than just deleting the part about alcan
I have been unable to find a date for the closure of the processing plant. If you can find one then include it but to list Alcan as current is incorrect.
Banbury no longer produces aluminium, it shouldn't be listed as a current industry.
There should be a mention made to the manufacture of plastics within Banbury, given the number of plastics factories.
Please excuse if this out of format (newbie). Alcan sold its aluminium extrusion plant to Alcoa some years ago. It is very much still there (I saw it last night...) as per http://www.alcoa.com/locations/alcoa_location/en/home.asp?code=192. In November 2006, Alcoa announced it would like to merge this plant into a JV with SAPA (http://www.alcoa.com/global/en/news/news_detail.asp?newsYear=2006&pageID=20061121005872en).
Alcan International's labs closed in or around 2004. (source - wife (well, she worked there)) 86.131.24.28 16:55, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Other Industry
Major centre for advanced motor racing design and construction eg Ascari, Innoval, Westmoreland etc
Proximity to Ford R&D at Gaydon; move of Aston Martin from Wykam Mill to Gaydon 86.131.24.28 17:01, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Tooley's Boat Yard
This should probably get a mention, given it's the last operating canal-side dry dock in the area. Perhaps alongside the museum? Shuvveh 03:09, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] BGN
"Blessed George Napier (Roman Catholic school, which includes 6th form)"
Should be listed as Blessed George Napier Roman Catholic Seconday School, as that is the full title. The same applies to all Roman Catholic Primaries listed. Shuvveh 03:14, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] re:tooleys boat yard
yeah i think it should be given a mention besides the museum but i dont know much about it, so either you can add it if you want or i can find some info if you wish
[edit] Oxfordshire / Northamptonshire ?
I'm not convinced that Banbury has ever been in Northamptonshire - can anyone shed light on this? MFlet1 21:26, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
- I think part of it used to be, but was ceeded to Oxfordshire when the town expanded. G-Man * 21:34, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
The Grimsby borough was befor 1918. --Jo Prentice 20:10, 22 January 2007 (UTC) .
