The Bankura Unnayani Institute of Engineering (BUIE) , located in Bankura, West Bengal. BUIE started its eventful journey from the academic session of 1998-99. Shri Jyoti Basu, the then honorable chief Minister, Government of West Bengal inaugurated this degree Engineering Institute on 19th September 1998.BUIE is affiliated to West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT). The college is approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and Directorate of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal.

Bankura Unnayani Institute of Engineering is situated at Bankura Town in West Bengal. Govinda Nagar bus stand is 3 km and Bankura Railway Station 8 km from its 30 acre campus.

The duration of all the above programs are four years.All the courses offered conform to the latest requirement and Syllabus-Cirricula is structured by WBUT.The placement cell of the institute assist students in starting their career.

[edit] Admission Procedure

Admission to the aforementioned courses happens on an annual basis. Number of seats allotted to different test, based on the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination(-85% of the total intake)conducted by the Central Selection Committee Engineering and technology. Qualified candidates are taken through AIEEE/CET (State conducted test/University tests)/Association conducted test separately.Through AIEEE entrance(-15% of the total intake).Some seats/vacant seats are reserved for management quota.

The lush green campuses of Bankura Unnayani Institute of Engineering located on a sprawling 42-acre land with an excellent academic environment are adjacent to the municipal area of Bankura Town, the district head quarters of Bankura District.The institution has all educational amenities such as spacious lecture halls, excellent library and laboratory and Computing facilities.The college building of 23,500 square ft construction is located over 9.625 acres of land. The academic session of the institute are held at the permanent Institutional Building provided with the infrastructure, adhered to the requirements of academic programmes of the institute.The Institutional campus and the Residential campus are conveniently approached through 20 ft. wide metalled road.

Separate accommodations are available for men, women, and the faculty. There is already two Boy's Hall of Residence to provide accommodation for 450 students at the residential campus of the Institute.The ladies Hostel accommodates 140 girls and part of Teachers' hostel accommodates 50 students. The Teachers'Hostel accommodates faculties and Laboratory Assistants in 8 flats.A guesthouse with 6 beds is also arranged here for guardians and ex-students.

Shri Jyoti Basu, the then honorable chief Minister, Government of West Bengal inaugurated this degree Engineering Institute on 19th September 1998.BUIE is affiliated to West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT)from the academic year 2001-2002. The college is approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and Directorate of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal.Though it is under WBUT ( WBUTech or simply UTech) now, it was originally under Burdwan University from the academic year 1998-1999 to 2000-2001. That time it was the first engineering college in Bankura district, there was only 2 colleges under the Burdwan university, first one is the Regional Engineering College, Durgapur (presently National Institute of Technology, Durgapur) and the second was BUIE. The foundation stone of the residential campus was laid down by Prof.Shankar Sen,the then Hon'ble M.I.C.,Deptt.of power, Nonconventional energy & Science and Technology,Govt.of W.B and Prof.Partha De,the then Hon'ble M.I.C.,Deptt.of Health & Family welfare,Govt.of W.B.and Chairman of the Institute,on 19 th February 1999.
