Banksia Park International High School is a high school in Banksia Park, a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It has sister-school arrangements with schools in China, Japan, Korea and Vietnam.
In 1977, an explosive device planted in a cistern in the male toilets at the school exploded as school was finishing for the day. The incident didn't result in any injuries but certainly one startled student. The incident was linked to a recent theft of explosive items at a nearby quarry.
In the early 1980's, students from the (then) humanities block were evacuated after a substance, believed to be a poison, was found to be in the air conditioning system. Again, no students were injured but its reputation as a local tough school almost toppled that of Modbury High School.
BPIHS established the Global Citizens Medal which other High Schools have now started to add to their school programme.
