Bankrupt (band)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bankrupt are a Hungarian melodic punk rock band based in Budapest.

Formed in 1996, they have performed about 250 concerts in nine countries. They have released three albums: Listen (2000), Bad Hair Day (2004), and Shorter Than Danny DeVito (2006). Their last two albums came out on guitarist William's record label PiaRRecords. Bankrupt has shared stages with punk rock bands such as Toy Dolls, Real McKenzies, DOA, and Randy.

Bankrupt's music is a mixture of 1977-style punk rock (i.e. Ramones, The Clash, Buzzcocks), American pop punk, garage rock, power pop and Britpop. Their lyrics are often personal glimpses into the current punk subculture and the world around them, which the band feels is headed toward self-destruction.
