Bankhead, Dumfries and Galloway

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bankhead is a collection of houses in the Scottish county of Dumfries and Galloway. It is near to the town of Thornhill, which is in the valley of the River Nith north of Dumfries. Bankhead is just up a track from a small village of Wallaceton. In fact, there are two 'Bankheads' within proximity to each other in that region of Scotland with the exact same postal address except for the name of the house (which means post some times goes missing). There are also other 11th and 12th century remains of buildings. The area that the thought-to-be chapel is located is known as the Craigs, and was once dug up by the popular TV series Time Team.
