The Bank of Mexico (Spanish: Banco de México), abbreviated BdeM or Banxico, is Mexico's central bank and lender of last resort. Banco de México is autonomous in exercising its functions. Banco de México main objective is to achieve stability in the purchasing power of the national currency. Its current governor is Guillermo Ortiz who was appointed in 1998.

  • 1935: silver crisis (important increase of the silver price)
