Banjocello
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The banjocello is a banjo hybrid. Normally built in a four string configuration, five string models also exist. A five string Banjocello will be tuned an octave below a normal banjo, and is built to exactly the same specification, that is to say a geared 5th string tuner partway up the neck. A four string banjocello is built to exactly the same standard as the tenor banjo, but twice the size. As such, the tone ring may be 26 inches wide, versus the tenor banjo's usual 12 or 13. Four string versions are tuned CGD'A', the same as the cello and mandocello.
