Bandwidth efficiency
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bandwidth efficiency should not be confused with the general term of bandwidth, since it invokes a distinct meaning. Bandwidth efficiency is a measure of how well a particular modulation format is making use of the available bandwidth, of a communications link. For example if a system requires 4 KHz of bandwidth to continuously send 8000 bps of information, the bandwidth efficiency of the link is 8000 bps/4 KHz, yielding to 2 bps/Hz.
