Bandbaja

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bandbaja is Pakistan's first online music magazine. Formed in 2003 by several college students, the magazine received immediate recognition because of its relentless critique of the Pakistani music scene.

The popularity of Bandbaja gave rise to several similar online music websites and portals through out Pakistan.

Bandbaja is known for its blunt views and the promotion of modern popular music as a social and even political tool. Although Bandbaja was hailed by many as Pakistani music journalism's finest moment, die-hard fans of bands that have been on the receiving end of Bandbaja's harsh criticism seem less than impressed by the effort.

As of 2006, the website is offline. It is however expected to come back on in the next few months.

When Bandbaja is clicked on, it always has some form of a witty statement or a pop-culture reference.

Several bloggers doubt the return of Bandbaja, this is due to the fact that it has been offline for several months now and does not post any new material.
