Bambalapitiya

Situated between Colombo 3 and Colombo 6, Colombo 4 spans about one and a half kilometers of the Galle Road in Colombo. The west of the city is ringed by the Indian Ocean while to the east Havelock town borders it. In the early 19th century it is believed Bambalapitiya was a jungle infested with snakes, Kadju Puhulang, Cashew, trees were common here. Outlaws have sought hiding in the dense jungle who would hijack and plunder bullock carts carrying produce between Galle and Colombo.
