Talk:Balsall Heath
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I have been doing a bit of family history research for my uncle and was wondering if anyone could help?
I am trying to find living descendants of either Gertrude Johnston (aka Gibbins) or George Whitehouse who married on June 3rd 1939. I know that they lived in the Birmingham area at the time. Alternately I would be interested in hearing from living relatives of the Johnston family who lived at number 22 White Road, Sparkbrook definately between 1928-1946 and maybe longer.

Thanks
- Try the Friends Reunited website, you can browse it for free but you'll have to pay if you want to contact someone. If your relatives grew-up in Sparkbrook they probably went to Ladypool School of Golden Hillock School, there might be one or two Johnstons or Whitehouses listed on those pages. Aynuk N. [edit] 'Balsall' is the old English for 'heath'
Anyone got a cite for that?
[1] suggests a number of alternative explanations, and I can't find anything to back up the 'Heath Heath' theory. Which is a shame because it's a nice factoid...

- I can't remember the source but I'll put a question on the Old English page and see what comes up! Aynuk N. Ayli 15:05, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] photographersdirect link
I've restored the photographersdirect link. This is a commercial site but it provides free access to images of Balsall Heath in 1970 that aren't available anywhere else. Aynuk N. Ayli 10:46, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
