[edit] Tropical wood?
I believe balsa is a tropical wood, containing a large amount of water, which evaporates when dried leaving the Styrofoam-like wood. If it's tropical, then it probably can't be deciduous. Also, 90 feet (27 metres) in just 7 years doesn't sound right at all! -radiojon 12:43, 2003 Sep 14 (UTC)
- Checked up - it is usually evergreen but can be dry-season deciduous in drier areas. It is fast growing, that growth rate is unlikely but not impossible. MPF 11:01, 20 Feb 2004 (UTC)
Can you include a link to a website with balsa pictures ??. Thanks in advance.

[edit] external link
the first external link is broken.
There is no reference to Balsa in the Aeroplane page. I plan to change that link to model airplane, if there is no objection. Wake 21:00, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
