Ballistic conductor

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A ballistic conductor is a conductor where there is no scattering of electrons and every electron injected in one end comes out the other. This means that the ballistic length is longer than the conductor. It is not a superconductor meaning that there is nonzero resistance, but generally the resistance of materials demonstrating ballistic conduction also have very low resistivities.

Ballistic conduction is observed in carbon nanotubes which are materials made of only carbon in a very ordered fashion.
